Dr. Paul T. Geibel

Paul T. Geibel, MD, specializes in orthopedic surgery of the spine at South Texas Spinal Clinic, where he expertly diagnoses and treats spinal disorders in people from around the South Texas area.

Dr. Geibel graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in June 1977, with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, then completed his internship and residency training through several New Orleans hospitals. He served as the orthopedic chief resident at Tulane Medical Center and Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

After completing his residency training, Dr. Geibel entered the Spinal Fellowship program at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, and the Tulane Spine Fellowship back in New Orleans.

Dr. Geibel’s interest in medical education has taken him to positions as clinical instructor and assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has presented various national and international papers dealing with spinal disorders. Dr. Geibel is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Bexar County Medical Society.

David Hirsch, DO

Dr. David M. Hirsch brings extensive experience in cutting-edge procedures to South Texas Spinal Clinic. Dr. Hirsch’s patients in the South Texas area benefit from his advanced training in injection techniques that deliver regenerative, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving treatment to the precise location of orthopedic conditions in joints, disc space, muscles, bursa and tendon sheath. He specializes in ultrasound medicine for diagnostics and pain procedures, specifically ultrasound-guided injections of stem cells, platelet-rich plasma, and cortisone.

Dr. Hirsch earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, then received his medical degree from the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was awarded a full scholarship to medical school by the United States Army, then later served in his specialty at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He completed his military obligation as a major in 1994.

As a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and the pain management physician for the South Texas Spinal Clinic, Dr. Hirsch manages an electrodiagnostic lab that performs electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies, serving as one of only two board-certified EMG labs in San Antonio.

Dr. Hirsch is a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, a fellow of the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Alaina Arringdale

About

In 2021, Alaina Arringdale became a part of the South Texas Spinal Clinic. Having earned her Nursing Degree from Baptist Health System School of Nursing in 2009, Mrs. Arringdale is a licensed practitioner through the Texas Board of Nursing. With a career spanning 11 years in the Operating Room, she specialized in orthopedic spine and neurosurgery.

In 2021, she achieved her Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas in Arlington and obtained certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. During this period, she also completed her First Assist through the National Institute of First Assisting. Her dedication to orthopedic wellness is evident in her certification in Fracture Liaison Services through the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation, where she contributes to diagnosing and treating Osteoporosis.

As a licensed medical provider, NP Arringdale is involved in obtaining medical histories, conducting physical examinations, diagnosing and treating orthopedic and spine injuries, as well as prescribing medications. Beyond clinical practice, she actively participates in surgeries and hospital rounds. NP Arringdale, originally from Round Rock, TX, relocated to Boerne, TX in 2014. Married to David since 2016, they have two small girls and a large Labrador named Moto-Moto.

Outside the office, she finds joy in spending quality time with her family and engaging in outdoor activities.

Amanda Giardina

About

Amanda Giardina joined the South Texas Spinal Clinic in January 2023. She earned her nursing degree in 2008 from Covenant School of Nursing and her Bachelor’s degree from Lubbock Christian University School of Nursing in 2010. With a decade of experience in various Intensive Care Units and the Electrophysiology Lab, she expanded her expertise by completing her Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner from South University in Savannah, GA, in 2018. Amanda is licensed through the Texas Board of Nursing and holds certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Amanda’s qualifications extend to First Assist, obtained through the National Institute of First Assisting. Her professional background includes working with total joints, neurosurgery, and ortho-spine. Originally from Colorado City, TX, Amanda relocated to San Antonio in 2011 to serve as a Second Lieutenant with the US Army at San Antonio Military Medical Center, where she continues to serve in the US Army Reserves.

Married to her husband, Matthew, since 2013, Amanda is a proud mother of one son and owner of two dogs. Beyond her professional commitments, she cherishes family time and embraces outdoor activities, especially those involving water.

Dianne Lou, MD, PHD

About

Dr. Dianne Lou is a native Texan and spent most of her childhood in the suburbs of Houston. She is an alumnus of San Marcos Baptist Academy in San Marcos, Texas where she graduated in the top 10% of her class at the age of 16. She earned a direct admission spot to a 7 year Pharm.D. program at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ but ultimately decided to pursue a medical degree instead. She returned home and pursued an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Houston, graduating summa cum laude and with Honors in Major. She then received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. To further her training and career, Dr. Lou traveled to the prestigious Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN where she completed an Anesthesiology residency with an emphasis on research. She remained on staff as an attending Anesthesiologist for an additional year while completing her research project focused on cancer-related pain. She returned to her final year of training in the highly competitive Interventional Pain Fellowship program at Vanderbilt. Dr. Lou is a board-certified Anesthesiologist and board-certified n Pain Medicine.

Dr. Lou brings an expansive array of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of Pain Medicine. She has had the privilege of training under mentors who have also trained at elite institutions such as Vanderbilt University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Wake Forest University, University of Texas, and Memorial Sloan Kettering/Cornell.

She is committed to providing the highest quality of care to her patients by tailoring a unique treatment plan for each of her patients and offering the latest in interventional procedures to the San Antonio community. Outside of work, you can find her spending time with her husband and children looking for the next greatest adventure. She is excited to be back in Texas, surrounded by HEB, good food, and family!
