Dr. Vulcan grew up in South Dakota. He attended the South Dakota School of Mines where he obtained a degree in computer science. After working as a software developer, he felt the calling to something greater and dedicated himself to studying to become a physician. He went back and attended medical school at the University of South Dakota where he developed a great appreciation for the art of medicine, graduating cum laude.
He went on to attend a residency at Baylor Scott and White where he obtained world-class training in anesthesiology and took every opportunity to spend time in the pain clinic. He subsequently went on to complete pain fellowship training at UT Southwestern where he learned the latest cutting-edge multidisciplinary and interventional techniques for treating pain.
Dr. Vulcan understands the burden that untreated pain can have on your health and those closest to you. That is why he is committed to providing the highest quality of care for his patients by listening, giving you the time, you need, and tailoring a unique treatment plan for each patient. He has a deep commitment to treating his patients like he would want his own family treated, with dignity, honesty, and compassion. While there may not be a cure for everything, Dr. Vulcan will strive to work with you to achieve your goals.
Outside of work, you can find him cycling the many bike trails throughout San Antonio, hiking, and spending time with his family and children.
