About Dr. McShane

Dr. Diana McShane is a native Texan and is thrilled to bring her expertise and compassionate care to the San Antonio community. She is passionate about helping those suffering from chronic pain to find relief, regain function, and return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr. McShane earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from The University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She then completed a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the same institution, completing the majority of her training at TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston, one of America’s top rehabilitation hospitals. Here, she gained extensive experience treating patients with severe brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and neurological disorders. In recognition of her dedication and leadership, she was elected Administrative Chief Resident and honored as Resident of the Year in her final year.

Following residency, Dr. McShane pursued a Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Utah, training with leading experts in pain management. Her expertise includes a wide range of advanced interventional techniques and innovative therapies for managing complex pain conditions. She performs specialized treatments such as fluoroscopic-guided spine injections, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, peripheral joint injections, and more. She is board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and board-eligible in Pain Medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. McShane enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dogs. She loves exploring the outdoors, skiing, fishing on the gulf coast, and hiking in national parks.

Undergraduate Education:

  • Earned Bachelor of Science degree in human biology from The University of Texas at Austin.
