About Dr. Geibel
Paul T. Geibel, MD, specializes in orthopedic surgery of the spine at South Texas Spinal Clinic, where he expertly diagnoses and treats spinal disorders in people from around the South Texas area. With more than 35 years of clinical and surgical experience, he prioritizes nonsurgical care whenever possible and uses minimally invasive techniques when surgery is needed to reduce risk and support faster recovery.
Dr. Geibel graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in June 1977, with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, then completed his internship and residency training through several New Orleans hospitals. He served as the orthopedic chief resident at Tulane Medical Center and Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
After completing his residency training, Dr. Geibel entered the Spinal Fellowship program at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, and the Tulane Spine Fellowship back in New Orleans.
Dr. Geibel’s interest in medical education has taken him to positions as clinical instructor and assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has presented various national and international papers dealing with spinal disorders. Dr. Geibel is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Bexar County Medical Society.
Dr. Geibel enjoys getting to know his patients and the activities that matter most to them. He finds spine care especially fulfilling, particularly as new innovations allow patients to experience even better results. Above all, he values the trust patients place in him and is dedicated to guiding them through difficult problems with skill and compassion.
